Birdwatching at Durankulak Lake
This is a short multi that will lead you to the protected site of Durankulak lake.
Durankulak lake is protected since year 1980 and it is one of the best preserved coastal wetlands in Bulgaria with international importance for the protection of more than 260 endemic, rare and endangered species of plants and animals. It is part of the Shabla lakes complex, which is the biggest winter habitat of Branta Ruficolus Goose (Branta ruficollis) and one of the most important wintering sites in Europe of the White-fronted Goose (Anser albifrons); it is a habitat of the largest population of Ferruginous Duck (Aythya nyroca) at the Black sea coast; it is the only modern habitat of Wild Carp (Cyprinus carpio linnaeus) in Bulgaria.
The Vegetation
Around two thirds of the territory of the lake is covered with water vegetation. There are rare and endangered plants such as Bulgarian Flax, which is a Balkan endemic.
The Birds
The lake is located on Via Pontica migration route and near the Danube delta. It is with international importance for conservation of more than 260 species of endemic, rare and endangered plants and animals. In Durankulak and the adjacent areas are identified 244 bird species, of which 67 are in the Red data book of Bulgaria, and from occurring birds, 123 species are of European conservation importance. The lake is of Global importance as well as due to its waterfowl in winter, mainly due to large concentartion of geese. Durankulak lake is one of the five most important places in the country for the breeding of Little Bittern (Ixobrychus minutus), Kentish Plover (Charadrius alexandrinus) and Lesser Grey Shrike (Lanius minor). Although in smaller quantities in the lake nest many of the world endangered Ferruginous Ducks (Aythya nyroca), and some other rare and endangered bird species such as the Great Bittern and the Collared Pratincole (Glareola pratincola).
The Fishes
The lake is inhabited by 17 fish species, 4 of them are endangered, listed in the Red data book of Bulgaria - Knipowitschia Caucasica (Caucasian dwarf goby), Three-spined Stickleback (Gastrosteus aculeatus) and others. Durankulak lake is the only modern habitat of Wild Carp (Cyprinus carpio linnaeus) in Bulgaria.
The Amphibians and the Reptiles
Other fauna included in the Red data book of Bulgaria are Balkan Frog (Pelobates syriacus balcanicus) and Otter.
The Cache
In order to find the treasure you will first have to pass through two other places to extract the Northern coordinates (stage 1), and the Eastern ones (stage 2). Please keep in mind that at the final you will have to climb stairs!

Наблюдение на птици при Дуранкулашкото езеро
Това е кратко мулти, което ще ви отведе до защитена местност "Дуранкулашко езеро".
Дуранкулашкото езеро е защитена територия от 1980 г. и е една от най-добре запазените в България крайбрежни влажни зони с международно значение за опазването на повече от 260 вида ендемични, редки и застрашени от изчезване растения и животни. Езерото е част от Шабленския езерен комплекс, който е най-голямото зимовище в света на червеногушата гъска (Branta ruficollis) и едно от най-важните места в Европа за зимуването на белочелата гъска (Anser albifrons); местообитание на най-многочислената популация на белооката потапница (Aythya nyroca) по българското Черноморие; единственото съхранено находище на див шаран (Cyprinus carpio linnaeus) в България!
Растенията
Около 2/3 от територията на езерото е обрасла с водолюбива растителност, съставена основно от обикновена тръстика, широколистен и теснолистен папур. Тук се срещат редки и защитени от изчезване видове, като българския лен, който е балкански ендемит.
Птиците
Езерото се намира на миграционния път Via Pontica и е в близост до дунавската делта. В Дуранкулашкото езеро и прилежащите му територии са установени 244 вида птици, от които 67 са включени в Червената книга на България. От срещащите се птици, 123 са видове с европейско природозащитно значение. Районът е място от световно значение за водолюбивите птици през зимата, главно поради големите струпвания на гъски. Езерото е едно от петте най-важни в страната места за гнезденето на малкия воден бик (Ixobrychus minutus), морския дъждосвирец (Charadrius alexandrinus) и черночелата сврачка (Lanius minor). Макар и в по-малки количества, в езерото гнездят още световнозастрашената белоока потапница (Aythya nyroca), както и някои други застрашени от изчезване видове, като големия воден бик и кафявокрилия огърличник (Glareola pratincola).
Рибите
Езерото се обитава от 17 вида риби, като 4 от тях са световно застрашени видове, включени в Червената книга на България - кавказко попче (Caucasian dwarf goby), триигла бодливка (Gastrosteus aculeatus) и други. Дуранкулашкото езеро е единственото съвременно находище на дивия шаран (Cyprinus carpio linnaeus) в България.
Земноводните и влечугите
Представители на фауната, включени в Червената книга, са балканската жаба чесновница (Pelobates syriacus balcanicus) и видрата.

За да откриете съкровището ще трябва първо да минете през две други места, от които да извлечете северните (етап 1) и източните (етап 2) координати. Имайте предвид, че накрая ви чака изкачване на стълби!
