This cache is hidden in a wonderful pocket of bushland just outside of the Heathcote National Park boundary. It's the perfect spot to just get away from it all and soak in the serenity of this amazing riverside location. It's a beautiful walk to get here via the Mirang Fire Trail (about 9km return) and you'll be surrounded by wildlife and native flora including an abundance of Gymea Lilies. The track is also mountain bike friendly up until the Eckersley Track (the last 600m). From here, the track descends down to Eckersley campground, which is a beautiful spot with room for only 2 tents. However, less than 200m metres away is a far, far nicer place with a lot more space, and it's own private beach. This cache will take you there!
The cache is an ammo can situated on a rocky outcrop adjacent to this secret riverside beach location, and to get here from Lake Eckersley campground follow an overgrown track that skirts along the edge of the river. There are some rocky obstacles to negotiate along the way and it looks as though it could be rather leech friendly, but when setting it I didn't encounter any. You'll also pass an interesting cave along the way, and for those wishing to explore further, several maps mention another cave called "Dingo Cave" somewhere near to S34°05.739 E150°58.434.
For those wanting to make a longer walk/ride out of it you can also approach from Heathcote Road (S34°04.303 E150°59.919) or Woronora Road (S34°07.207 E150°56.999).
