Geocache Description:

Koyasan is the name of the temple city in Wakayama Prefecture. There is no one mountain officially called Mt. Koya-san in Japan.
First settled in 819 by the monk Kobo Daishi (Kukai) , Koyasan is primarily known as the world headquarters of the Koyasan Shingon sect of Japanese Buddhism.

Prohibition to female

Women had been prohibited from entering the temple city "Koyasan" until 1872.
This "Daimon" gate was one of the structures which was representing the boundary of forbidding women from entering the city.
