This little known area of west Cumbria is rich in ecological, industrial and military history. The floods of November 2009 altered the course of the river and forever changed the geography of the area; but in doing so also revealed a lot of evidence about the former uses of this site. Once the site of the Camerton Brickworks company this enterprise was closed down in c1908. Now mostly overgrown it provides a popular venue for dog walkers.
The cache is located inside a former WW2 bunker in woodland just off the main path. Access to the bunker itself is possible, but not easy, especially after rain. Luckily, the cache can be retreived without actually having to go into the bunker.
