Geocache Description:

Just another little geocache to bring a bit of life to the local area.

Affectionately known to the locals as "The Lake", this area is beautiful both on still summers evenings watching the sun going down and on cold blustery winters days where the waves could wash you away.

Parents always warn their children of swallow holes when swimming, and the lake is often used by fishermen out on their boats. There was always tales of fairies living on the island and how in the past the island was used as a prison.

Have a look at this link for a very nice photo, though I cannot guarantee it will look this beautiful on the day you visit: https://www.alltravels.com/ireland/galway/headford/photos/current-photo-36457255
