We'll have an election themed game of "if politicians were geocachers" and other games.
Bring some lawn games and lawn chairs. The pavilion has picnic tables. The weather can be anything from sweltering to snowing so dress appropriately.
The event will look something like:
2-5 pm or so games & socializing
5 pm Group picture
Food immediately after picture
The pavilion becomes a public location after 6 pm. If no one else has reserved the area, we are free to linger until the park closes.
Prize drawings while eating. If you have an item for the prize table, bring it at check in.
We will provide the hamburgers, brats, hot dogs, and buns as well as water and lemonade. Please bring a dish to pass. We will have space in coolers if you need to store a cold dish.
We will have a table for geocoins and travel bugs to trade. Please drop them at check in and pick up a replacement at the end of the event so those who wish to discover them can do so during the event.
The pavilion looks out over the bay and the ore dock. If we're lucky, a boat will be loading iron ore. There is a breakwall nearby with light at the end. The island offers many spectacular views of Lake Superior and, of course, Black Rocks where you could jump off into the lake (not recommended in October!)
Dogs are not allowed in the park, only in closed vehicles.
We have a space reserved at the Ore Dock Brewing Company, 114 W. Spring St., Marquette to continue the discussion from 6-8 pm. Kids are welcome at the Ore Dock before 9 pm. If you plan to come, let us know in your will attend log so we're sure to have enough space reserved.
If anyone needs a list of things to do while in town, send us a message at schultznwolfe@gmail.com
