Geocache Description:

Cows have been with us since the early Neolithic period, occupying an important role in our development as a society and culture. This is in tribute to that ubiquitous bovine that has made such an important contribution to the history of the wild, wild, west, including some of histories more famous mavericks .

All caches are along the frontage road and are not accessed from the freeway.

Dexters are a dual purpose, minuature cow. Originating from Ireland, the Dexter is about half the size of a Hereford and a third the size of the Holstein milking cow. Once quite rare, the Dexter is enjoying a comeback due to its use as both a dairy and a beef animal. They are also used as oxen. Good mothers with a rich milk, they will often nurse 2 or 3 calves at a time. Because of their smaller size the Dexter is often popular with those who like to produce their own food.
