Geocache Description:

Cows have been with us since the early Neolithic period, occupying an important role in our development as a society and culture. This is in tribute to that ubiquitous bovine that has made such an important contribution to the history of the wild, wild, west, including some of histories more famous mavericks .

All caches are along the frontage road and are not accessed from the freeway.


German for yellow cattle the Gelbvieh originated in the Bavarian region of Germany. Originally bred as a tri-purpose cow(dairy, beef and draught) the modern breed is mainly used as a beef cattle in the U.S. First imported here in 1971, there are now over 45,000 registered Gilbvieh in the country. They are known for their easy growth and quick maturity.
