My first Church Micro hide is based around St. George's Church at Shillingford St. George. There is nothing at the given coordinates, but marks (approximately) the entrance to the car park.
The church:
This church is part of a group of three parishes along with St Michael's in Alphington and St Ida's, Ide. St. George's itself is a Grade II* listed building constructed from red sandstone in the 15th Century. It was then internally restored, and possibly partially re-built in 1856. The tower was built by Sir William Huddesfield who was Attorney-General to King Edward IV and King Henry VII. Sir William died on 20th March, 1499, and was buried in the church - his chest tomb survives against the north chancel wall. There is a monumental brass to Huddesfield and his wife within the church, along with his heraldic window on the south side of the chancel.
The cache:
This is a simple two-stage multi requiring the collection of some numbers from two monuments within the churchyard and the finding of a final container a short distance away. I would recommend walking from the church to the final - it's along paved surfaces.
Head into the churchyard and find the crucifix shaped monument to members of the Keene family.
A = How old Elizabeth was when she died
Elizabeth died on 19th May 190B
Harriet died on Cth April 1972.
As the path curves towards the door of church, you'll see the grave of Edith Maud Babbage.
Edith died in the year DEFG.
The coordinates of the physical cache are:
N 50º (A x 2) . BG(C+D)
W 003º (A+F+C) . (D+G)C(E-C)
The cache itself should be a straightforward find. Please replace and conceal as found.
