Park at the trailhead and enjoy the moderate hike up to the Roman Nose upper lake. In August, enjoy the huckleberries the entire way along the trail! I purposefully hid it right off the trail in hopes that perhaps some young children can find it without too much trouble. Enjoy!
The trail is pretty well maintained, about 1.5 miles each way. It does get rocky and there are a few inclines, but not bad at all. The map of the trail on the board at the trailhead is not a very good one. Stay right at the first two intersections, and what nobody mentioned on other sites (and the map at the trailhead doesn't really show) is that there is one last intersection with a marker (which had fallen down) that you actually veer left on. Assuming you are using your GPS and following my coordinates, you should be just fine! The upper lake is beautiful with several campsites. The cache is a coffee can and is not far past the first few campsites and it is within view from the trail.
