Located at the McKellar Island Bird Observatory (MIBO) which is operated and maintained by John and Maureen Woodcock and one very knowledgable staff named Josh! This cache is near the base station and the nets. Keep your head up so not to get tangled in them! Feel free to venture down to the river and around the other paths.
The Observatory is open to the public and is free of charge but donations are always welcome as this is all a non profit project and is not funded any other way. John and Maureen and staff are actively researching the migratory birds in the area especially the song bird species. They are excited to have cachers come visit them. You can see first hand how they passively net, tag and record information of each bird and then release them back into the wild for observation. You can visit them on facebook at www.facebook.com/mckellar. The station is manned 7 days a week from 7am-1pm but the trails are open 24/7. Please please please respect the equipment and netting and do not touch or destroy anything as these are important works going on here. WE HAVE APPROVAL OF JOHN AND MAUREEN TO PLACE CACHES HERE! LETS NOT RUIN THAT!
