During the cold war, Waukesha had one of eight Nike Missile sites protecting Milwaukee. Each area contained a control area and launch silo. This site appears to have contained at least 3 Nike Missiles. The launch silos are now filled with mulch and/or concreted over. All the Nike missile sites have been highlighted by Dr Dolittle's caches at the sites.
This site was formally named M74 Launch and the site was given to the City of Waukesha to develop into a park. The City of Waukesha has plans to make this a kid friendly park, named Missile Park, but for now its wild with some cool historical sites. Its amazing to imagine once was right under our feet and marvel at the expense and fear the the United States had of a missile attack during the cold war.
