A fun to find cache along I-95.
In 1949, Mr. Alan Schafer built a simple 18 x 36 foot beer stand known as South of the Border Beer Depot. As it adjoined the North Carolina counties, which were dry of alcoholic beverages, business boomed. A few years later a 10-seat grill was added and the business was re-named South of the Border Drive-In. “The Border”, as employees call it, has become a little town within itself. It’s unique and one-of-a-kind. Now, 67 years later we hope you will enjoy another reason - Geocaches - to stop at "The Border" where the two Carolinas meet and enjoy finding varies types of gadget caches. The caches are not park and grabs but instead a geotrail that encourages a cacher to stay a while in "The Border" and take a rest, find 12 caches, and explore the area. If a tool or tott is needed it will be listed on the cache pages. Every driver at some point in time reaches the limit of their driving during the day. At this cache location you will find inviting to stop and rest. Traveling offers an opportunity to visit and explore new places. Our friends and families share these adventures through postcards sent with short messages - much like twitter and snapchat apps today. Mailboxes do require a code to open to retrieve the mail - look closely to find the address and then the mailbox combination.
