When we were young marrieds, mere striplings as it were, some forty years ago, this was the edge of town. Soon after, this area was a buzz with the sound of hammers and saws as these home went up. We both worked for a janitor company then, just getting started in our adult lives, and these houses were among the places we cleaned, getting them ready for their new owners. You cannot believe the mess construction workers left behind, knowing that someone would come along and tidy after them. It was hard, but honest labor and soon we left the janitor company and began the careers we both retired from.
This corner is a popular spot for real estate open house signs as well as garage sale signs, etc. Orchard Avenue is the main street to all these homes as well as the country beyond. So don't be surprised to see a fair bit of traffic.
