Oregon Electric Railway Ran from Portland to Eugene via Salem and Albany. The extension south from Salem to Albany and Eugene opened in 1912. In Albany the OE had two separate lines. The freight line ran along the river front, the passenger line ran along the center of 5th with a brick passenger depot at the corner of 5th and Lyon. Here passengers could transfer to the Albany Streetcar to take them downtown or to the Southern Pacific RR Depot. The Passenger Trains branch ran along 5th from Main and then rejoined the freight line by Riverside Cemetery. Passenger service ended in the early 1930's and the tracks were paved over. Today the old OE depot still exists and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and still in use, but as a restaurant. Also on 5th in front of the driveway at the curb to the driveway to the restaurant you might see exposed rail of the old interurban!
The cache final location is further along the old interurban line on 5th by an old church. The cache is nano. To find the cache final location you need to find the the Historic Register Plaque on the front of the old OE depot, you do not need to go inside the building and is visible at all hours. You will find that the building is subject to a special Assessment program with a number. The coords for the final can be found within that number.
