Questa cache vuole farvi conoscere un luogo particolare, a noi molto caro, che ormai in pochi conoscono: le vecchie miniere di ferro, le ferriere appunto, da cui il paese prende il nome. Sfruttate fino agli anni '50 circa sono state poi abbandonate e dimenticate. Solo di recente, un gruppo di volontari ha ripulito il luogo cercando di promuoverlo aprendo un sentiero che dal paese di Ferriere raggiungesse il posto (in circa un'oretta). E' ancora possibile entrare nei vecchi cunicoli a patto di prestare MOLTA ATTENZIONE. In tutto sono quattro: le due in basso, ben visibili arrivando sul posto, sono le più pericolose a causa della scarsa altezza e dei buchi verticali molto profondi; le due più in alto invece, per quanto più difficili da raggiungere, sono invece quelle più sicure. Sono profonde una decina di metri (occorre una torcia per vederle meglio) e sono ancora visibili nelle pareti i buchi in cui venivano infilati i candelotti di dinamite. VOGLIAMO SOTTOLINEARE CHE IL POSTO NON è SOGGETTO A VERIFICHE COSTANTI, SPECIALMENTE DOPO LE PIENE DEL TORRENTE GRONDANA CHE SCORRE APPENA SOTTO. E' NECESSARIA QUINDI SEMPRE UNA FORTE ATTENZIONE. Le coordinate vi porteranno vicini al "panettone" di roccia da cui si vedono i cunicoli. La cache è nascosta nella miniera più in alto. NON serve entrare, è nascosta appena all'ingresso. La difficoltà del terreno è riferita solo alla cache, il sentiero per arrivare sul posto è adatto a tutti (e vivamente consigliato perchè merita!). Potete partire dal paese di Ferriere dove ci sono le indicazioni del sentiero (1h circa) o arrivare in macchina fino al punto segnato dal waypoint e riprendere l'ultima parte dello stesso sentiero (10-15 min).

This cache is created to show you a very interesting and beautiful place, not very famous anymore: the "ferriere", a group of iron mine, from which the village of Ferriere take its name. Used until 1950, they were abandoned and forget. Only in the last years, a group of volunteer has cleaned this place, trying to make it famous again. They also open a pathway from Ferriere village. You can still enter in the old caves, but please BE VERY CAREFULL. There are 4 caves: the two below are pretty dangerous, because of the presence of vertical wells. The two above aremore safety, but they only go ahead for 10m or so; you should need a light in order to see something. WE WANT TO POINT OUT THAT THE PLACE IS NOT REGOULAR CHECKED, EXPECIALLY AFTER HEAVY RAINS. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION. Coordinates will bring you near the rock mountain where you can see the caves. The cache is placed in the upper one. You DON'T have to go inside, since the cache is at the entrance. The terrain difficulty is referred to the cache only, the pathway to the place can be done by everyone (and is strongly recommended, because it's very beautiful!) You can start from the village (see track waypoint) where you can find the panel heading to "miniere" (mines) , which will take 1h to get there. In alternative, you can park the car at the other waypoint along the street and take the same pathway for just the last part (10-15 min).
