Emerald Multi (Marlborough/Nelson) Multi-Cache

A quick and easy multi to add a bit more interest to the walk into the Emerald Pool on the Pelorus River.

The posted coordinates are at the parking area near the start of the walk which is a 13km drive from the turn off at Pelorus Bridge along the Maungatapu Road. The short walk to Emerald Pool is just the first part of the Pelorus Track on which you can tramp for 3 to 4 days exploring this part of the Mt Richmond Forest Park.

At the listed coordinates you will find a DOC sign detailing the tracks and huts in the area giving distances and time to various locations. Using the information on this sign work out the final coordinates which are S41 1A.BCD E173 2E.FGH where:

A is the distance (in km) between Roebuck Hut and Browning Hut.

B is the distance (in km) between Roebuck Hut and Totara Saddle.

C is the time (in hours) it takes to tramp from Middy Hut to Mt Fell Hut.

D is the time (in hours) it takes to tramp from Middy Hut to Rocks Hut.

E is the time it takes (in hours) to tramp from Roebuck Hut to Totara Saddle and return, (assuming the return trip takes the same time as the outward trip).

F is the distance (in km) to tramp from Captain's Hut to Middy Hut less the time (in hours) it takes to tramp from Roebuck Hut to Browning Hut.

G is the time (in hours) it takes to walk from this sign to the Emerald Pool.

H is the distance (in km) to tramp from Middy Hut to Rocks Hut.

Checksum: A+B+C+D+E+F+G+H = 43.
