The Dunkley Post Office was operated from 1892 - 1942. The second application for a post office (the first was denied) is credited with mis-spelling of the Dunckley name. The application was accepted as Dunkley, although the Dunckley brothers spelled their name with a 'c'.
Four different Yoast’s were postmasters from 1914 - 1942 (Sylvia, John H., Maggie and James M.). The final home of the Dunckley Post Office was at the James Marion homestead from 1924 - 1942. This homestead is easily visible (look west) from this vantage point. Approximately .2/10ths miles east (up the road) is the James Marion Yoast Reservoir which was built sometime after he homesteaded this area in 1907.
This cache MAY be accessible in the winter - but would depend on how deep the snow is!
