The cache can be found at the Pukemiro Railway Junction, which was once a key railway location connecting between Huntly and the Rotowaro mining district.
Today it is home to the Bush Tramway Club which is a heritage railway club, who regularly operate restored locomotives along a 5.4 km Rotowaro - Glen Afton section of the former Glen Afton Branch Line.
The Bush Tramway Club was founded in 1965 to preserve equipment from New Zealand’s former bush tramways and light industrial lines, railway lines which were used to remove timber from the bush and transport coal to and from mines and dairy factories.
Visitors are welcome free of charge, and the club runs an open day the first Sunday of every month from April through December.
The cache is situated on a static coal cart display beside the club carpark.
Please note the gates are normally locked at night between 5pm and 7am.
