Dorothea Quarry Traditional Cache

A small cache well hidden at an abandoned quarry site.

Parking can be found in the nearby village of Talysarn and then an old road leads down towards the quarry.  Following the pathways will lead you to a clear area at the top of a slip way leading down to the waters edge.  The cache is somewhere in this clearing (no tools required).  The quarry ceased production in the 1970s and since then has flooded as the pumps have been shut down.  Dorothea has become a popular site for people to scuba dive although this is not actually alowed and has lead to the death of 21 divers since '94.  Many old buildings still remain around the quarry which are very interesting to see as they are slowly comsumed by the forest again.  This cache does not require you to enter any builing or structure as this would be too dangerous.  Please use caution around the whole site and beware of sheer drops next to the paths.
