This cache is located at the Pembroke/Petawawa airport. It is located in a great spot to stop and watch the military SAR (search and rescue) para jumpers practice jumping from a Canadian Forces Hercules aircraft then floating down to land on the grass strip beside the runway. Parking will be on the side of Airport Rd or Len Hopkins Dr. so please watch the traffic.
The Pembroke Airport is not only home to a private flying club but is also used by the Canadian Military who use the airport as a practice area for the SAR para jumpers. Many times during the year you can watch as the Hercules aircraft fly over and the SAR Techs jump. The Hercules will circle the airport and come in for a landing to pick up the jumpers and do it all again. People use Len Hopkins Dr. to jog, ride bikes and walk their dogs so some stealth my be required. Permission was requested and granted from the Pembroke Airport Administrator for placement of this cache.
This is a winter friendly cache.
Please do not post photos of the cache container, let others have the same experience that you had. Post photos of the log if you wish, thank you.
