Scenic Route #1: The beginning Traditional Cache

Earlier this year, the NewlynFam tribe moved from Howick to Papakura, in order to buy our first home. However, even though we now live further south, we still spend a lot of our time in Howick due to school, work, church, sports, and visiting family and friends. This means that generally once or twice a day some or all of us make the trip to Howick and back.
This series of caches is placed along my “Scenic Route”- or what I consider to be the nicest, and most enjoyable to drive route, as it takes me along country roads- which means I miss traffic lights and motorway jams! I find it a pleasant drive, and one I enjoy making.
Each cache is placed at one of my, or my daughter (Wolfie109)’s “landmarks” on our journey home- things that we have noticed along the way. I thought I’d show them to you….
Please take extreme care while doing this series- while I have tried to place each cache at a location that is easy to stop at, or has a wide shoulder on a couple of occasions you will have to stop on the side of the road, where although possible, there isn’t a lot of room to pull off the road. While some of the caches in this series are more child-friendly, I wouldn’t recommend you take children to the caches where you have to stop on the side of the road- especially younger children. Warnings for such caches are on the applicable page.

*** If travelling from Howick to Papakura, almost all of the caches will be on your left. There are only three or four that you will have to cross the road for.***

This cache marks where I feel that the beginning of my journey down the Scenic Route is….. once I pass this point, I know I am on my way.
If you come here in spring, you may be treated to a beautiful display of daffidols, but there are sometimes plantings at other times of year, too.
You are looking for a micro container with natural camo.
