I love this stretch of road. It's named after the wagon wheel letterbox, which I think is pretty cool. I also like the glade-like effect created by the sun shining through the tall trees across the road, and some of the beautiful old homesteads on the left as you travel down this road.
The cache at this location is a micro and camouflaged to fit in with its surroundings. I would suggest parking in the side street, at the waypoint, and walking back along to the cache. While this can be a busy road, it is still reasonably safe for an adult to walk along as the shoulder is wide enough- just be careful. I wouldn't take kids to this one- the cars can drive pretty fast. This stretch of road is however part of the Te Araroa track, so people do walk along it from time to time!
There is also a house or two nearby, so please use stealth.
