Ranting about Ash Priors
#1 - Hang in there
A short series around the Ash Priors common near to my home. The common itself is a popular spot for dog walkers, runners and cyclists alike. There is a high chance of you seeing grey squirrels, and on hot summers days (if your quiet) grass snakes, adders, slowworms and common lizards. The common itself is maintained by Taunton Deane borough council, but does have its own volunteer committee who frequently patrol the common checking for damages (so be careful).
The series can be undertaken any time of the year, although it will be muddy in winter. I personally recommend doing it via walking, but from the saddle of a bike is also good.
Each cache in the series leads onto another cache through fairly well maintained paths, although in some cases you may not be able to get a bike through the most direct route. I would also advise that you don't wear shorts as there are plenty of stingers, brambles, ticks and other nasty’s that are looking for their next meal.
The series will take you approximately 3-4 Hours to complete if walking, and a bit less if cycling.
The cache
The first in the series is a small climb a little walk from the car park. GPS at the GZ is limited due to tree cover, but keep looking up and you should be able to find it. The path you should take from the car park is through/ over the large wooden gate.
Be wary of muggles, they have a habit of sneaking up on you.
This is my first series, so any feedback or even Fp's are much appreciated.
Placed with kind permission of Taunton Deane borough council.
Happy Caching
