In New York back around 1868 there was an acting troupe who called themselves The Jolly Corks! From different backgrounds and walks of life, they came together in complete neutrality to perform and became a very close-knit group. When one of their members died, the group rallied to support his widow and children. The group felt good about what they'd done and soon that support practice grew to where it was no longer limited to just the group and their families but to the rest of the community! From there the group chartered itself with the name Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and swore to keep it's members to be only U.S. citizens who believed in God and who would swear an obligation to be good examples to the community thru behavior and charity. There are almost 3000 Elk Lodges in the U.S.A. and all the members are sworn to live by the principles of Charity, Justice, Brotherly Love and Fidelity!
There is a brand-new Geocache lapel pin for the FTF!
