Redux of a historical cache.


Back in the old days, there was a competitor to geocaching.com called OpenCaching, by Garmin. It closed in August 2015 effectively leaving thousands of Geocaches unique to their site out there as Geotrash. OpenCaching wasn't readily adopted in New Zealand, but there was one OpenCaching listed cache in this location, placed in 2013. I rescued the logsheet and finally got around to putting a replacement at this site.

New Information Come To Hand: Turns out the historical cache was also listed on Geocaching.com with only three finds before becoming archived (https://coord.info/GC4XC3P - sounds like a long story there.....)... who will get the first to find on this new version??


Since then, a Mountain Bike Park has developed in the nearby Arapuke Forest Park and is owned by PNCC with trail development managed by the Manawatu Mountain Bike Club. For more information see http://www.arapuketrails.co.nz/.

This cache can be accessed via an 8 km return walk up Back Track from the end of Kahuterawa Valley Road. Alternatively, it can be a park and grab via Scotts Road and 10 km of gravel roads. Beware, forestry trucks use these roads.

Cache is a black 200 mL screwtop. Bring a Pen.
