Since you are at Lone Star College you might as well learn something.

Iraan, pronounced Eye-ruh-ANN is a small city in Pecos County, west Texas with a population of less than 2,000.   Named after Ira and Ann Yates, owners of the ranchland upon which a boom town was built after discovery of the giant Yates Oil Field in 1926.

When I worked in Plano, Tx in the 90's I met a sales rep who was once the head football coach at Irann High School (The Braves) before coming to Big D.  He had many great Texas football stories and was the one who schooled me in the correct pronounciation of the name Iraan.
