Geocache Description:

flagSKSK:

Kaplnka Panny Márie a studnička sa nachádzajú neďaleko Baziliky Navštívenia Panny Márie na Mariánskej hore. Dostanete sa tam z parkoviska. Listing, hint a waypointy vám môžu uľahčiť hľadanie!

The Spring and chapel on Mariánska hora

spring_photo

The Chapel of Virgin Mary and the spring are located near the Basilica of Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Mariánska hora (Marian Hill). You can get there from the car park. The geocache description, hint and waypoints can help you find the geocache! If you liked the cache, we'd love it if you would reward it with a nice log or a favourite point.

The Chapel of Virgin Mary is neo-Gothic, it was built at the same time as the basilica was rebuilt between 1906-1914 according to the projects of a famous Levoča architect Anton Müller. It is evidenced by the fact that the chapel and basilica are very similar. (For those interested: Anton Müller is world-famous especially for his projects of grand hotels in the High Tatras. The basilica in Lourdes was the inspiration for the rebuilding of the basilica on Marian hill.)

The Chapel is built above the spring. The oldest document where this spring on Marian hill is mentioned is from 1764. The records state the expenses related to its treatment and cleaning.

You can exchange your xWGs and bigger travelbugs in the geocache. Please exchange fairly or rather not at all!
