Greatland Reviewer: Hello surfnski4jc:

This cache page has been archived due to the lack of response to one or more prior Reviewer Note(s) about issue(s) with the cache. If you would like to have the cache unarchived, please contact me through my profile as soon as possible before another cache gets placed nearby.

Please note that unarchiving a cache page requires it to go through the same review process as a newly proposed cache, using the cache placement guidelines currently in effect.

Geocache Description:

When I travel to travel the mainland, I appreciate when I can do a hike that has a number of geocaches on it. I thought it would be neat to try and create a similar hike on Oahu. I chose to do this on the Makiki Valley Loop. There are now 20 caches on this loop. I hope you enjoy!

The Makiki Valley Loop is actually a combination of the Kanealole Trail, the Maunalaha Trail, and the Makiki Valley Trail. It is a little over three miles RT. The east (right side from the Trailhead) has a bit steeper pitch/climb to it. So you can adjust the direction of the loop depending on if you want a little more or less climb. The trail has enough pitch to get your heart rate up, but isn't so taxing that kids can't do it. I see plenty of kids doing this hike. It is not that strenuous. I plan to add caches to this loop over the course of the next several months. I will not be placing them "in order". In other words, don't worry about the number in the title - they aren't intended to be sequential finds. Just keep hiking the loop and you will come across all of caches. One thing to note. There is alot of foliage on this trail, so GPS readings can be a bit sketchy. I will continue to create waypoint averages as I hike this loop and refine the coordinates appropriately.
