Geocache Description:

Great opportunity to explore a portion of the Kings Trail here on the Big Island of Hawaii.  Rich in history this trail may also be known as Ala Hele Trail and part of a much older long trail system called the Kealanuipui Trail which is said to extend all the way around the island.  This portion of the Kings Trail will take you through the Waikoloa resort area amognst condominums, shopping, restaurants and hotels.

Walking the trail from this location will introduce you to what was once a popular and important quarry to ancient Hawaiians.  This quarry was important as it provided a means of producing tools to be used in finishing of important tools such as fish hooks and as large as canoes.  The smooth flowing lava was broken apart by large stones carried in from other areas to create the necessary sharp and strong shards of lava.  The cache itself is a medium sized container with camoflague tape.  Hidden among the lava rocks, this cache will provide a nice hunt and a bit of education.
