Geocache Description:

The last cache from our "early period"...

Located within the South Run Stream Valley Park near Lake Mercer. To reach the cache from the cul-de-sac parking on Wagon Trail Lane (or from points southeast), you will walk down a gravel road. This is one of our favorite places to walk. It feels like another time and place, and it takes on a different character at different times of the day and in different seasons.

The title of the cache seems quite appropriate and is taken from a beautiful little piano composition written by Aaron Copeland. It is notable for having been commissioned by and published in Life magazine (June 29, 1962), which states that "it is among the few modern pieces specially written for young piano students by a major composer." The sheet music and associated articles can be found here, and a very nice recording can be heard here. Maybe take a listen on your walk to the cache.

Look for a narrow footpath off the gravel road. The cache is 15 or so paces off this sandy footpath.

A $5 gift card to The Swiss Bakery for the FTF (Cache Clown 76). Also packed with some kid-friendly items, which we hope to maintain.

Placed with permission from the Fairfax County Park Authority. Park hours are from dawn to dusk. Night caching is prohibited.
