Do battle with the legend known as ''Old man river'' this cache is in honour of I local legend a monster trout that has been lurking in these waters . Well worth the visit , as this fish has eluded locals for years

The local legend , goes that a monster trout lurks in these here waters, take time to walk the area and find this hide , and who knows you may even catch a glimpse. Of this monster in the waters of the Acheron river as it laughs and splashes its fins at local anglers its been known to be more likely to be seen during a full moon !! good luck and happy hunting P.S you will need a pen Some more information on this wonderful spot The Acheron River joins the Goulburn River downstream of Lake Eildon and upstream of Goulburn Weir, near the township of Acheron and encompasses an area of approximately 738 km2. The mean annual flow out of the Acheron River catchment is approximately 338,900 ML/yr. The Acheron River catchment is predominantly cleared in the lower catchment, while the upper catchment contains cleared alluvial valleys, surrounded by forested mountains. High value environmental assets in the catchment include the Cathedral Range State Park and the Steavenson Falls. The Goulburn Broken Regional River Health Strategy lists the Acheron River as a high value asset as it is classed as an environmental site of significance. The catchment is bound to the east by the Rubicon River catchment and the west by the Yea River catchment. Significant tributaries of Acheron River include Connellys, Dip, Health, Cerberus Wilks, and Andrews Creeks, and the Taggerty, Steavenson, and Little Rivers. The main townships within the catchment are Marysville, Buxton and Taggerty.
