Geocache Description:

a Time Flies Travel Company (TFTC) geocache

The 7 C's

It is universally accepted to refer to ships using feminine names and pronouns. In the ancient past, almost all ships were once dedicated to goddesses or other mythical female figures. Later in history, they were named after important, albeit mortal women such as Captains' wives or mothers. Although seamen historically connected the spirit of a female figure to their ships with the idea of safety and protection, actual women were considered certain doom and, at the very minimum, very bad luck at sea. The extremely superstitious Captain Jack Narrow sailed into pirate legend by naming a ship for each of his successive wives. Captain Jack was reluctant to rename any of his ships lest he bring about bad luck or even worse. He eventually amassed a fleet of ships named Cozette, Catherine, Christine, Constanze, Camille, Claudette and Clarabelle. Thus was born the expression "sailing the seven C's".

CACHE: Don't let this one sail by you as you search for it.
