Great way to spend the day with family and fellow geocachers. This is one of two events scheduled for the day. Attend one or both events. Those who are not keen to hike are welcome to join in the fun at catered braii nearby. Start time is 09:00 at the event beacon and lasts until around 13:00.
If this hike has been on your radar, this is an excellent chance to make the climb with fellow geocachers. My estimate of the hike is moderate to moderate/hard with a mostly steep incline. From the trailhead to the most distant cache in the series is approximately 1 mile. Plan for about 4 hours on the mountain. Wear comfy hiking shoes, bring plenty of water and snacks (save room for the afternoon braai), sunscreen, and another other hiking equipment you may deem necessary. Following the hike will be an afternoon braai at a nearby facility by Falcon Rock. This day will be a great day to spend with family and friends. Come and join in the fun. Park in the area of the event. It may be a good idea to carpool from Falcon Rock to save gas and because of limited parking. The last part of the road is not paved but is in good shape. My car was able to make it with no problem. A permit is required to access the lady's slipper by foot or MTB. Permits are obtained from Cape Pine or one of their agents and cost about R20.00.
