Let me tell you the story of my trip to London, England in 2014:
Newly arrived in London, I went straight to visit my aunt Doris, who lives out in Eastcote. After a baguette and tea at the Picnic Cafe at and a good chat, I hopped on the tube to head into the city. But I fell asleep! I woke up when the train got to the end of the line at Cockfosters station. I cursed at myself, bought a coffee at the nearby Miracles Coffee Shop to stay awake, and then got back on the train downtown. I alighted at Hammersmith to do some shopping. I spent hours perusing the shops, stopping partway through at Pret a Manger for a delicious sandwich. Then I got a call from my friend Nick to remind me we were meeting for dinner. He knows how forgetful I am! I headed to Covent Garden to meet up at the Palm Court restaurant. It had been ages since we’d seen each other and had lots to catch up on. After a delicious steak frites I bid Nick good-bye and hopped back on the train to my cousin Sarah’s place in Stratford. We chatted into the wee hours of the night in her flat.
Well rested in the morning, I took a brief tour around the Olympic Park before getting on the Center Line at Stratford station to head into the city, but I went the wrong way and ended up at Leyton. I got on the correct train (I stopped to by a Flake at the newsstand) to get back on my journey all the way out to Amersham, where my great Aunt Alfeda lives. But she wasn’t home! Old Aunt Alfreda can be just as forgetful as I am sometimes… I sat in the George and Dragon pub to wait while enjoying a pint of Newcastle Brown, but she still had not appeared, so I decided to head to one of my favourite places in London - Hampstead Heath. I found a fantastic pastry shop called Louis Patisserie where I had Raspberry Scones. As I sat, I got a call from my friend Nick again – he had an extra ticket to see a tennis match at Wimbledon. What luck!I headed down on underground to meet up. I enjoyed an exciting match in the big stadium and ate the customary strawberries and cream, washed down with Pimms and lemonade. After the match I bid my friend adieu and headed down to Westminster. where I sat on the south bank of the Thames and contemplated all that had happened in the past two days.
