Geocache Description:


The Tweede Waterval Trail is an easy out-and-return walk offering fantastic vistas. The 6.5 km trail leads through sections of longstanding forest near the Eerste River and into a ravine.
This is a pop­u­lar two to three hour hike, so it is rec­om­mended that one hits the trail early to avoid the crowds, spe­cially over week­ends and the school hol­i­days. On week­days, if you are lucky you might have this whole beau­ti­ful kloof to yourself.

It soon becomes appar­ent why this hike is so pop­u­lar. After just fif­teen min­utes of walk­ing you get to the first water­fall, tucked away in a shady over­hang. I dont think that I have ever been there with some­one for the first time that has not said “wow , or “amaz­ing”. On a quiet day (with not to many peo­ple) this cool kloof will also be a mag­i­cal spot to pic­nic at.

As this hike has the Eerste River in sight most of the way, be on the look­out for a turn of down to the river, where one can sit and relax in the shal­low pools on a hot day. In the sum­mer months the South Easter can really blow down this kloof , but once you are down at the river you are mostly out of the wind.
