The Tweede Waterval Trail is an easy out-and-return walk offering fantastic vistas. The 6.5 km trail leads through sections of longstanding forest near the Eerste River and into a ravine.
This is a popular two to three hour hike, so it is recommended that one hits the trail early to avoid the crowds, specially over weekends and the school holidays. On weekdays, if you are lucky you might have this whole beautiful kloof to yourself.
It soon becomes apparent why this hike is so popular. After just fifteen minutes of walking you get to the first waterfall, tucked away in a shady overhang. I dont think that I have ever been there with someone for the first time that has not said “wow , or “amazing”. On a quiet day (with not to many people) this cool kloof will also be a magical spot to picnic at.
As this hike has the Eerste River in sight most of the way, be on the lookout for a turn of down to the river, where one can sit and relax in the shallow pools on a hot day. In the summer months the South Easter can really blow down this kloof , but once you are down at the river you are mostly out of the wind.
