Ferndale House was originally known as Fern Villa , and was built for a Mr Garlick in 1865. He soon married Anne ,,, who was a teenager at the time , She planted all the Norfolk Pines .
The origial cottage was enlarged in 1870 to it's present size . Mr Garlick died in 1898, and his widow in 1947.
The Aucland City Council then purchased it , partly for a kindergarten .
The main room is rented out now for functions ...
