The Event Cache:

Join us to conserve the environment.

Geocaching Melbourne has been working closely with the Surf Coast Shire to promote the pastime of geocaching within their community. One of the best ways that Geocaching Melbourne thought that we could do this is to run some CITOs within the shire over the weekend of the 12th and 13th of November.

This CITO will work slightly differently than your normal CITO however. If you happen to be in the Surf Coast shire on Sunday the 13th of November, we would like to invite you to go out and find some geocaches, (like you need any excuse!) But, whilst you’re out and about we would also like for you to take a rubbish bag along with you as part of your geocaching kit. So if you’re hunting around for a geocache on the day and you spot some rubbish lying around, pick it up and put it in your rubbish bag.

Then, between 3pm and 4pm, head down to the posted co-ordinates and there will be a nice large bin, kindly supplied by the Surf Coast Shire and a smiling volunteer with a log book. You can dump your collected rubbish in the bin, sign the logbook, claim a smilie and then mingle around with everyone else and talk about all of your adventures during the day.

How good is that, a win for everybody!

Geocaching Melbourne and the Surf Coast Council would like to remind participants though, that participating in this CITO, like all facets of geocaching, can be hazardous and like any geocaching activity there are inherent risks that you must assume (as per the geocaching terms of use guidelines, section 2A that you have agreed to when signing up your geocaching account).
