Geocache Description:

This is a McLean History series. I invite you to enjoy the search and for the benefit of all our cachers, local and visiting, please add your personal knowledge of McLean history to your logs and include pictures for a large gallery of historical photos.  Tx and Cache On!

The first cache in this series (though it can be done in any order) is in Lewinsville Park where on September 11, 1861 the Union and Confederate soldiers met twice.  The park is now the site of numerous playing fields, gardening plots, and the Friday, Farmer's Market among other community events.  The Lewisville area has a rich history to include the Lewinsville Presbyterian Church which was built in 1846 on land donated by the Ball family and was occupied by the Union troops throughout the Civil War.

You are looking for a magnetic cache with room only for the log.  Please have your own pen or pencil with you.  The cache is placed with permission from the Fairfax County Park Authority.  Please adhere to all park rules and regulations. Excellent parking.

Tx to Bardenl for the following warning "Do not poke your fingers too far into a thin metal hood. The fan is closer than you think. Ouch. The cache is not there." Wrong structure. Congratulations to RDIP on FTF 10/02/16 @ 7:30 am.
