At last, after many months I have finally hidden a cache near the start of the Marawhara Stream.
From Anawhata Road, the entrance is opposite the Chateau Mosquito Track (which is closed due to Kauri dieback) and the nearest parking area.
The Hettig Track is a short track (0.5km) that ends at the Marawhara stream and site of an old dam. It descends quickly, can be steep and slippery in places, with an uneven terrain, tree roots and debris.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the cache.
If you choose to continue following the stream downhill, this is a rough tramping track, and is recommended for experienced trampers only. It is undefined, with plenty of obstacles and stream crossings to challenge and excite.
If this longer adventure is for you, eventually you would arrive at two of my other caches hidden at the Piha end of the Marawhara stream:
Dry Boots
Marawhara Waterfall: "The Coffin"
For more information the related web page link includes many pictures which give an indication of the stream terrain, if you choose to continue following the flow of water downhill.
You are looking for a camoed peanut butter container.
