Geocache Description:

Another Roadside Attraction Geotrail

North Carolina - World's Largest Chest of Drawers

There is nothing better than a good road trip: driving down the open road, eating at tiny roadside diners, going 150 miles out of the way to take a selfie in front of … the Peachoid water tower! Oh Say, can you see … me with the world’s largest frying pan?

This geotrail honors those unique, odd, bizarre, fun, historic, campy, weird, and just downright interesting roadside attractions in North and South Carolina. The caches aren’t meant to be hard, it is a power-trail after all. None of the caches are hidden at the posted locations - but answer the question correctly and you will have a working set of coordinates. All of the hides are preform bottles.

Originally known as the "Bureau of Information," the world's largest chest of drawers was constructed in 1926 as a monument to the "Home Furnishings Capital of the World.” Two gigantic socks dangle from a drawer, officially symbolizing "the local hosiery industry." The chest is actually the facade of a building that houses a charitable service organization. Getting your picture taken next to this large dresser makes even the tallest person look tiny in comparison. The Goddard-Townsend style dresser was refurbished in 1996. Not to be outdone, a furniture company down the road built a dresser more than 80 feet tall, but it's not freestanding; it's actually an elaborate storefront.
