Treble Clef #33 - Rush, eine unterschätzte Band
Geddy Lee ist live sehr gefordert, er spielt den Bass, singt und löst die meisten Effekte mit Fußpedalen aus, des weiteren spielt er auch das Keyboard. Das weiß ich leider nur aus Internetberichten, ich hatte noch nie das Vergnügen, sie live zu erleben, da sie sehr selten in Europa auftreten. Rush war immer eine 3-Mann-Band mit Bassisten und Sänger in einer Person. Hier ist das besonders bemerkenswert, da die anspruchsvollen progressiven Elemente für manch normalen Bassisten schon unspielbar wären. Rush kann in ihrer umfassenden Diskografie auf einen reichen Fundus an hochwertigen Kompositionen zurück blicken und hat damit auch viele Bands beeinflusst, besonders John Myung von Dream Theater nennt Geddy Lee als Vorbild. Eines ihrer frühen Alben hat nur eine 4stellige Zahl als Titel, der Titelsong aus diesem Album wurde u.a. auch bei einem Guitar Hero Spiel verwendet und füllt die komplette erste Seite der Schallplatte, für alle Freunde der progressiven Rockmusik ist hier reinhören Pflicht – die zu erahnende Frage: Wie lautet diese 4stellige Zahl? Geddy Lee has a tough time at live concerts, he plays the bass, vocals and doing the most effects with pedals and also plays the keyboard. Sadly I know all that jost from internet researches, I never had the honor to see them live because they aren´t in Europe very often. Ruch has always been a 3-man-band with Lee as bassist and singer in one person. Here this is remarkable because the challenging elements of their progressive music is unplayable to most of the common bassists. Looking at Rush´s discography you will find many high quality compositions, which don´t show their brilliance on the first look you take and has influenced a lot of bands, especially John Myung from Dream Theater names Lee as one of his Idols. One of their early album is entitled with a 4 digit number, the title tracks fills the whole first side of the LP and is also featured in a Guitar Hero game.
