Along the rugged Pacific Coast of Washington, you’ll find over 70 miles of protected coastline, as well as the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary. Head west out of Forks to the coastal village of La Push, home of the Quileute People for thousands of years. Located at the mouth of the Quillayute River, La Push offers a marina and services for visitors, including beachfront resort, RV park and restaurant. The drive-to beach named First Beach offers magnificent views of the beach, the surf, and wildlife such as shorebirds, eagles, and seals. In the spring, these waters are a favorite place for the gray whales to pause and feed on their northward migration. Join the Welcome the Whales ceremony held each spring. From the cache location, just above first beach, you’ll have a great view of the mile-long crescent beach, and may even see surfers or kayakers enjoying the waves, or simply catch a great sunset!
