Rooty Tree Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not responded to my note I am archiving it.
I would ask that the CO visits the site and removes any physical remains of this cache.

Guidelines:**You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing.**

Geocache Description:

SeniorfanGeo

Armley park gives local residents and visitors views over Kirkstall Valley.

Facilities include a playground, Skatepark, summer and winter bowling greens, bowls pavilion, football pitches, tennis courts, cricket wicket, open grass areas and a car park.

The park is sometimes referred to as Gott's park after the famous industrialist Benjamin Gott who was born, lived, died and was buried in Armley. The park contains Gott's Municipal Golf Course, which is on the side of the hill and consequently has some staggering holes.

The park has several grade II listed features including;

The gate piers at the entrance on Stanningley Road.

The War Memorial.

The Fountain and associated plaques.

Hidden away on the edge of Armley Park, nestled between the railway and the River Aire, you will stumble upon a set of 161 Victorian steps leading up to the entrance of the park. These are known as ‘Armley ‘Killer’ Steps’

This cache is a small tub with room for swaps and TB's. Please bring a pen and tweezers or something to extract the logs on some of the containers.

Please leave as found and covered properly.
