Who: Geocachers over 10 years of age; newbies, oldies, all experience levels invited!
What: We will be picking up litter along Randall Road between Miller Road and Ackman Road in Lake in the Hills. This is about a mile stretch in one direction. We will split into two groups with one group working south on the east side of the road and the other team working north on the west side of the road.
When: 9 - 11:30 am, Sunday, October 2.
Where: Meet at parking area for Ken Carpenter Park (posted coordinates). Please carpool if you can.
Why: To “clean up our playing field” as they say.
Good to Know: Trash bags, litter pickers, and safety vests are provided! I will also have some water on hand. Please dress appropriately. Wear long pants and boots. You may also want to bring work gloves.
Because it’s a highway clean-up there are certain rules and precautions we must take. Below are the ones I’d like to highlight:
- All participants must participate in a safety meeting prior to the clean-up (this is part of the event).
- All participants must fill out a waiver indicating they understand the risks involved in highway clean-up. I will have copies with me for those that haven't filled one out yet.
- All participants should wear safety vests. They will be provided, but you may bring your own if you have one.
- You must be 10 years of age or older to participate. If you are between 10 - 18, then you must be accompanied by an adult.
- We will move together as a group and walk facing oncoming traffic.
- Please do not enter the roadway to pick up trash.
Hope to see you there!
