For the life of me I can’t understand why but it seems Randy’s geocaching account (Team Bullis) has been hacked and a well-known international group is claiming responsibility. I saw nothing incriminating in the information they disclosed online and after thinking about it I actually didn’t think that it would be all that difficult to find the information that they released on Randy. That gave me an idea for a puzzle cache that shouldn’t be that difficult to solve, even for Randy. ;-)
What you have to do is dig deep into Randy’s geocaching information and find the magic number the hacker group released and that number will be used to solve the puzzle. It isn’t his SSN because that is one digit longer at seven digits. At first I thought this number was the number of caches Randy had found but it was far too large and this number has never ever changed. It obviously isn’t the number of posts Randy has had in the Geocaching Forums either. I didn’t have to inspect any source code or use any special program to find this number so apparently it isn’t that well hidden. All that is required is a little searching and a few keystrokes.
Once you find this magic number, take the first three digits and subtract this three digit number (with a leading decimal point) from the fake north minutes. Now use the remaining three digits of Randy’s magic number and subtract this three digit number (with a leading decimal point) from the fake west minutes. This will give you the coordinates for the final. While no stealth is required for the find, you should be careful so your online sleuthing isn’t discovered.
