Please note that the Interior of the North River Stone Schoolhouse is only accessible by making an appointment with the Madison County Historical Complex or on a personal group tour led by the Madison County Chamber.
There are two plaques on the buidling. One at the top reads:

Restored by
Madison County Historical Society, Inc.
1962 - 1973
Placed on
National Register of Historic Places
By the U.S. Dept of Interior

And the other right by the front door reads:
North River School

There is no need to go onto the grounds of the schoolhouse, but the personal gate will open to allow you to tour the grounds.
