Ayshford is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 and the earliest known mention of the settlement dates from 958. The current chapel was built by the Ayshford family in the 15th century and it was renovated in the 19th century when the current stained glass was installed. The chapel is currently maintained by the Friends of Friendless churches and I highly recommend viewing the inside if you are able to. There is plenty of 15th century timber on the roof and screen although the pews are mostly Victorian.
The cache can be approached from either side but I recommend you approach from the towpath side of the hedge. The cache is not on the path or the bridge.
