Tangled Up In Blue Traditional Cache

Located on the shores of Cobalt Lake on your way up 5040 Peak.

Requires a 4x4 to access the trailhead. Turn onto Marion Creek FSR and put her in four.

1.78km with 550m vertical gain.

Depending on fitness etc, will take 1-2 hours each way. Can be done in under 3 hours car to car if motivated.

Trail can be slippery in the wet weather (ask us how we know).

Don't bring your old dog!!

We tried to make it to this stunning gem of a lake last weekend, when the sun was shining, and the views of Triple Peak were jaw dropping even from the parking spot. However, our elderly chocolate lab was having nothing of this. She made up through the clearcut OK, but the next hundred or so metres of elevation gain were an ordeal. We had to push her up every vertical surface. We turned around after an hour, vowing to come back. This weekend was rainy, and the views were limited. We borrowed a more capable dog, and slogged up through the wet bushes and over the slick rocks. It's a nice trail, but probably less slick when dry.

We didn't attempt the peak, but there is a cache up there, and on a clear day....
